The June Bank Holiday weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year on Clare Island with an excellent line up of entertainment Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Nearly all accommodation is booked well in advance so book early. We host the Mayo Sailing Club, 22nd – Round Clare Island Race, where anything up to 20 boats take part. For their information view: www.mayosailingclub.com, The race begins at noon on Sunday, where the exciting chaos of the start line is worth viewing, from the pier, in view from Sailor’s Bar and finishes in the same spot. Characters from every walk of life, both young and old set their mains against one another for the prestige of winning the Kay O’Grady memorial trophy. The teams sometimes look for additional crew so you may be one of the lucky ones. The race is followed with a BBQ and a lively night of music.

The annual Booze Cruise is also happening over the weekend (more information to follow) plus Clare Island Adventures has open activities that people can join in such as coasteering, rock climbing etc.

A weekend not to be missed.
