Clare Island Campsite

Go Wild…

Clare Island campsite is situated close to the pier, the beach, the community centre and Sailor’s Bar.

The campsite costs €5 per person per night. Children under 12 years of age are free of charge. We do not reserve spaces on the campsite.

Phone: 087 4739125 or

There are showers, a drinking water tap, toilets and coin-operated washing and drying facilities available. Please ensure to bring extra coins. Facilities are basic, but the location is unrivalled being so close to the beach. The sea can be your giant bathtub.

Although we do have a local shop 2.5km from the campsite, we do not have a supermarket or camping supplies to buy on the island. Campers are best to come prepared so as to not be disappointed when here. Check out the “eat” section for food offerings during the summer months.

Please be considerate of your neighbours. It is prohibited to start fires on the Campsite and the adjoining area. We would also ask you to refrain from bringing or consuming alcohol on the campsite.

Leave No Trace

We endeavour to follow the “Leave No Trace” ethos. Campers are encouraged to bring their rubbish home with them as all island waste is transported off the island for disposal and costs for this are very high.

We thank you for your assistance in keeping Clare Island clean and green.

NB: The coastguard helipad is located close to the Campsite. In the event of a helicopter landing or takeoff please keep a safe distance from the helipad. Retreat to inside the Community Centre building or to the beach area if safe to do so and do not approach the helipad. Please note that in the event of an emergency evacuation at night via helicopter campers may be asked to move their tents at short notice – we thank you for your assistance in this matter. Please comply with instructions for your own safety.
